Died & Went to Heaven! This food was so delicious. A friend and I came in for lunch and ended up taking them up on their lunch special. We got an appetizer, the entree, and a dessert. Worth it! All of this for around $16, so I can't complain. I wasn't left feeling bloated either, which I'll consider a testament of the quality of food we were consuming. Their iced tea is also super refreshing. You got to get in on this!
"The food was amazing! One of the best india food I've had in ages! The service was second to none. With the owner engaging in conversation with each customer. I'll be going back soon for more tasty dishes. Highly recommended"
"Best Indian food in the NYC area! In fact, I had some guests visiting from UK (non- Indian) last evening and they couldn’t stop praising the quality of food and warm hospitality. It’s my go to place for Indian.
We had an incredible experience here. The service was amazing and the food was top notch. I am vegan and they had plenty of options for me and told me if I didn't like the dish they suggested, they would make me something else (it wasn't necessary though, as the food was delicious). The lunch special is an excellent deal. It was around $11 for an appetizer, main dish with rice, and a flat bread. As we were finishing, they came out with some rice pudding. Overall, it was very delicious and authentic! Next time I'm in NYC, I'm coming back here!
I'm a NYC resident that's been looking for quality upscale Indian food a while. Benares delivered. The food was delicious, tasty without punching your palate with spice. The decor tasteful, and the lunch menu an incredible deal. I'm vegetarian and had a cauliflower, paneer, daal, Chaat, rice, and naan. I was so stuffed by the end that I had to say no to dessert, with leftovers to take home. I think what really elevates the restaurant is the customer service. The staff helped me choose dishes and drinks, and the owner came by to ensure we were having a good time. I highly recommend to anyone craving some delicious Indian food.
I am an analyst in the area and typically go here for lunch. The food is always great. The staff is phenomenal from the front of the house to the back of the house! At lunch it can get packed because of how great the lunch menu is, however, seating is quick and wait time is short
Best Indian restaurant in NYC. The food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. Love the ambience. Met the Michelin star chef Dhandu Ram at our dinner table. Highly recommended.
Popped in for lunch today...excellent Indian food with the perfect amount of heat and spices! The khasta gobi, paneer tikka, and malai kofta are a must try. The food was fresh and very reasonably priced. The space itself had a cool vibe with ample room between tables. Customer service was at a whole new level - from the moment we entered till we walked out, we were taken such good care of. The chef personally came out to meet and greet us, which was a very sweet gesture. Solid desi food - go here!
Benares has absolutely amazing food! From the ambiance to the service, everything is absolutely perfect! Went there twice already and they always deliver. Can’t wait to go back again! Highly recommend this place for people who enjoy tasteful food and great service!
If you really want to try amazing Indian food, this is the place. We went here for dinner and it was very good and the service as well. I'm glad I tried Indian food first time here. Will definitely come back here again.
Favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. Ask for spicy and they will deliver. Favorites include chili chicken, biryani, and chicken tikka. Their chicken is cooked well, flavorful. And their sauce does not skimp on the spices, this isn't watered down like most places. Highly recommend... I'm Indian, have had tons of Indian food before, this is actually good.
